Chäserrugg is an easy to reach mountain in the Toggenburg, a beautiful valley in the canton of St. Gallen. From a height of 2,262m you're afforded great views of the Grison Alps and Lake Walensee and on a perfectly clear day you can see as many as six different countries from here. The top station is an impressive wood construction by renowned Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron and it features a restaurant. A good destination for kids as well as experienced skiers, Chäserrugg is part of the Toggenburg ski area with 17 lifts in all. By car it's a little over two hours from Lucerne, but public transport will get you to the beginning of the cable car in Unterwasser in around 2.5hours. Mount Chäserrugg is also a good option if you don't ski as there are sledge runs and marked walking paths.
