This day is the equivalent of the English Boxing Day in Spain. The holiday is celebrated all around the country and in Pamplona in particular. It is the time for children to enjoy their Christmas presents, and there is also an annual parade of the three wise men (Melchor, Gaspar, and Balthazar).
February 3rd: San Blas
This religious holiday is traditional for Pamplona. Round cakes called roscos (or tortas de txantxigorri) are brought to the church of San Nicolás to be blessed.
February
Festival Punto de Vista
One of the main cultural events in Pamplona is the international festival dedicated to documentary films and non-fiction movies from all around the world.
Semana Santa / Holy Week
In Spain, many people are traditionally devoted to the Roman Catholic church, so Easter is particularly essential. On Easter Thursday there is a procession called Vow of the Five Wounds dating back five centuries from the times of the deadly plague. The most emblematic day of Holy Week in Pamplona, anyway, is Good Friday. Another procession on the streets under the heralded image of La Dolorosa is carried from the Cathedral do the Church of San Agustín.
San Fermin Festival
July 6th - 14th
Known mainly for the thrilling Running of the Bulls, San Fermin is the most significant event in Pamplona. There is more than Encierro (as the bull-run is called in Spanish). The festival is literally launched by a rocket at noon on 6th of July (the pyrotechnic is named chupinazo) and ends up with fireworks every night. There is a procession dedicated to the patron saint (San Fermin) held on 7th of July. The parade of the giant heads is another activity associated with Pamplona.
Privilege of the Union
September 8th
This day is dedicated to commemorate the unification of the three parts of the city (La Navarrería, San Cernín, and San Nicolás) which was made in 1423 by a treaty signed by King Carlos III in 1423.
National Day
October 12th
Fiesta Nacional de España is a holiday all around Spain. The National Day is called the Columbus Day in America since it commemorates the anniversary of Christopher Columbus's first arrival in the Americas.
Día de Todos los Santos (All Saints Day)
November 1st
No Halloween masks in Navarre. The tradition of the All Saints Day in Pamplona gathers the people in the cemetery.
San Cernin
November 29th
San Cernin (Saint Saturnine) is the other patron saint of Pamplona next to San Fermin. The holiday is marked by a parade, a mass, and various events. The music of the city's music band, La Pamplonesa, plays a significant part.
Christmas (Navidad)
December 24th-25th
Christmas is celebrated everywhere. In Pamplona and the Great Basque region as a whole, there is something specific. Santa Claus is called Olentzero and is actually… a charcoal-burner coming down from the mountains. Once again, the city celebrates going out on parade with lots of music.
