The food in Málaga might be full of fun and energy, but this place is more than capable of taking the culinary world more than seriously. The fine dining scene in the city is extraordinary, with a Michelin Star restaurant and plenty that can’t be far from that coveted list. If you’re looking for somewhere to splash the cash in Málaga, you can’t go wrong with these marvellous spots.
What is it with chefs naming their restaurants after themselves? Saying that, if the food is as good as it is at José Carlos García restaurant, we’re happy no matter the moniker. This is the only Michelin Star restaurant in the city of Málaga (at the time of writing), although good luck getting a table. This place is as intimate as it gets, with reservations made months in advance. Is it worth it? That is a very silly question.
The genius in the kitchen of Sollo is known as the ‘Caviar Chef’, primarily for his flair and willingness to bend the rules of gastronomy in the search for perfection. Located way out of the centre, the tasting menu is a journey into culinary magic that wrings every drop of taste out of the Med. Reservations are a must.
A real gourmet experience this, although we did promise not to use the ‘e’ word in this review. Whoops! The location is simply stunning; what could be better than fine dining with unbeatable views of the famous Málaga Cathedral? The prices reflect that, but this is a once in a lifetime culinary opportunity.
The top floor of a museum might not be the most obvious spot for an excellent restaurant, but then Málaga isn’t exactly the most standard of places. La Terraza de la Aduana is the restaurant in question, tucked away above the Museum of Málaga but as far from a secret as it gets. The views of the Alcazaba are about as good as it gets, and the food is a hearty embrace of all things Málaga.
Restaurant views don’t come much more extravagant than this. Situated on Gibralfaro hill in the grounds of the castle, a visit to Parador is well worth the trek. A night in the hotel will set you back a pretty penny, but there is no culinary experience in Málaga more romantic than a sunset dinner at this marvellous restaurant.
