Launched by DJs Kenzhero and Bradley Williams in winter 2018, this effortlessly cool bar, eatery and gallery is perfectly placed to fill a gap in the market in Braamfontein for a more mature and upmarket venue, with good food and cocktails on the menu, that appeals to the neighbourhood's post-student, young professional crowd.
The bartenders are excellent, even when there's just morning pick-me-up fruit juices in their cocktail shakers. True to its name the space also doubles-up as an art gallery with a new exhibition on the walls each month ranging from installation to photography and painting with the canvases decorating the walls both upstairs on the mezzanine and in the bar's main hall where floor-to-ceiling windows looking out onto Reserve Street.
Even better yet, in the basement is another separate cocktail bar and events space, The Untitled Basement, used for private parties and concerts hosted by The Artivist's DJ owners.
