One of the city's oldest Italian food stores, Super Sconto grew from a small cafe on Louis Botha Avenue where people would flock on weekend afternoons for gelato and watch the backgammon games to a modern and capacious Italian food emporium. Today it's still on Louis Botha Avenue but with a different address to the one it started with.
This is the place to shop for all thing Italian food, from olive oils and dried goods, to a superb range of pastas, cheeses, olives and just about any ingredient you need for an Italian dish. Super Sconto was once the heart of Joburg's Little Italy. While the Italian community is no longer centred around this area the store remains a go-to destination. Stray upstairs for a panini and espresso. Hot lunches are served from Tue to Fri.
