Orłowo Pier

Orlowo         more than a year ago
This wooden pier was originally built just after WWI to a length of 150 metres, then extended to 430 metres in 1934 – no doubt to compete with its more illustrious neighbour in Zoppot (Sopot), as well as to lend it the capacity to allow boats to dock alongside. A series of storms following WWII saw the length reduced to 180 metres, and after that the pier's sole function was to fulfil aesthetic purposes. As with other parts of Orłowo, it has seen extensive renovations in the last couple of years and is now back to its full inter-bellum glory – period style lighting et al.
