The pulsing centre of Bangor is its famous cathedral, a picturesque place of worship that has stood in this spot since the 6th century. Its location is of real interest, as it was built in this somewhat hidden spot in order to avoid the viking raids that were doing a number on the island, and somehow that worked. The cathedral hasn’t completely avoid violence over the years but is a serene place in the modern day, the main attraction in Bangor and a peaceful place to catch your breath.
