There's no sweeter way to discover Slovenia's rich history of beekeeping than the Honey Experience at the Slovene Ethnographic Museum. Taking place every Thursday (at 15:00) and Sunday (at 11:00), the programme begins with a sweet welcome in the Lectarija Shop, where participants will hear the stories connecting the premises to some of Ljubljana's most prominent figures of the 20th century, including famed architect Jože Plečnik. Next is a guided tour of the museum's beekeeping collection, and the event finishes with a workshop on painting beehive panels - just like those seen on the tour - which can be kept as souvenirs. It lasts around 90 minutes, and is conducted in both English and Slovene. Discounts and alternate times are possible for groups, but prior arrangement is required.
