What to expect flying out of the kitchens of Bratislava? Slovak cuisine isn’t particularly well represented in the increasingly global gastronomic scene, but the sooner that changes, the better. ‘Hearty’ is the first word that springs to mind, although don’t take that as read that Slovak food is simple. Homely dishes can certainly be found, but there is a skill in the preparation that is as impressive as the various tastes. Bratislava is also an up and coming regional centre, so it is no great surprise to see a wide variety of international cuisines represented throughout its myriad of restaurants.
