Scott Monument

Probably one of the largest monuments to a writer anywhere in the world, this is a tribute from the Scottish to their own Sir Walter Scott whose solid marble sculpture sits at the base of the monument together with his dog. Admission is charged for a small exhibition and visitors can climb up inside the monument, but it is a quite strenuous spiral staircase, to enjoy spectacular views across the city.
