The elegant two-storey Marly Palace is the main sight of the western part of the Lower Park. It received its name thanks to the similarly to the residence of French king Louis XIV, Marly-le-Roi, which Peter visited in 1717. The palace is located at the border of the western part of the Lower Park and stands on the artificial viaduct between the Sectoral and the Large Marly ponds, used for fish breeding since the times of Peter the Great. This tradition lives on in our days; during specific hours visitors can witness the daily fish feedings. Today, the palace is a sort of memorial to Peter the Great, boasting a collection of the great emperor’s personal belongings.
