This sprawling 18th Century countryside estate once belonged to the exceptionally rich Prince Yusupov and is one of the quietest stately parks within a reasonable distance of the city. The buildings themselves usually house historical and contemporary exhibitions from the local scene. In the winter it‘s a romantic setting for that quintessential Russian troika (sleigh) ride and there's also plenty of stall selling hot drinks. The formal gardens, which offer excellent views towards the surrounding countryside, are dotted with neo-classical sculptures, hidden summer pavilions, while the forested area leading to the small river is lovely for a lazy stroll. GETTING THERE: From metro Tushinskaya, Rizhskaya, Dmitrovskaya.
