The Romanian capital is a great place to visit, even if you’re on a budget! From charming parks to interesting sights and some of the best museums in the city, Bucharest will keep you busy for days with its cost-free attractions.
If you like free things (and who doesn’t?) or you just want to explore the city without spending a fortune, here are some free things to do in Bucharest that would please any visitor.

Visit Museums
If you love to be surrounded by art and history, you’re in luck! Bucharest has lots of amazing museums to explore and some of them welcome visitors for free on certain days.
You can visit The National Museum of Art of Romania, the Zambaccian Museum, the Museum of Art Collections and the Theodor Pallady Museum (located in Bucharest’s oldest house) for free on the first Wednesday of every month.
The ‘George Enescu’ National Museum and the Museum of the Romanian Peasant have free entry on the 26th of every month, so you can learn more about the famous Romanian musician George Enescu or admire one of Europe's leading museums of popular arts and traditions.
 When it comes to the first Sunday of the month, you have lots of free options - The Old Princely Court Museum that has the oldest historical testimonies of Bucharest, the Astronomical Observatory Amiral Vasile Urseanu (the first Astronomic Observatory in Romania open to the public since 1910), The Ligia and Pompiliu Macovei Art Collection, The Frederic Storck and Cecilia Cuțescu Storck Museum and the Victor Babeş Museum.

Explore Bucharest’s Street Art
Curious about the street art scene in Bucharest? Head out to Arthur Verona Street located near Piata Romana to explore the most colourful place you’ll find in Bucharest. Take a Walk in the Park
Bucharest has lots of beautiful parks you can explore, no matter what season it is. Cismigiu Park (Cismigiu Gardens) is the largest park in city's central area and it’s the perfect choice if you want to chill out for a while. If you want to take a longer walk, we recommend heading to King Michael I Park (Herastrau Park) where you’ll find tranquillity and calm away from the noise of the city. The Carol Park and Tineretului Park are also popular when it comes to spending time in nature and enjoying some nice views. Both parks have a lake, playgrounds, lots of plants and trees and even many types of birds.

Discover the best attractions in Bucharest
You can’t visit Bucharest without taking pictures of the top attractions in the city. Even if the majority of the must-see attractions require an entry fee, seeing them from outside costs you nothing. You can start with the Palace of the Parliament, the heaviest building in the world and the second largest and most expensive administrative building, right after the Pentagon. This building is so impressive from the outside that there’s no need to step inside to enjoy it! The Romanian Atheneum should also be on your list along with the Stavropoleos Church. Bucharest’s Arc de Triomphe near Herastrau Park is also worth seeing and photographing while visiting the Little Paris.
