Sushi, tapas, and bubbles are on the menu here. Kanpai means "cheers" in Japanese, and we'll raise a glass to that. Kanpai at Keyes Art Mile combines three of our favourites; weaving Japanese influence into its dishes. This dining haven, on the street front of Keyes Art Mile (where Sotto Sopra was), is an upmarket, yet friendly spot opened by seasoned restaurateur Monwabisi Thethe.
The menu has plenty of variation, from beautifully crafted sushi to Korean lamb chops, prawn linguine and coconut panna cotta. As promised, there are curated bubbles from both local and international producers, as well as a series of signature cocktails and an exceptional selection of premium wines to sip on. The bar is pretty sexy, too.
Inside, Kanpai pays homage to the serenity of water, with aquamarine and azure accents creating a soothing atmosphere. It's supremely tasteful, and the seating is super comfortable. The restaurant spills out onto the sidewalk for an al fresco café-style dining experience.
