You've heard the phrase hidden gem before, but this really is the most hidden of gems. A colourful, shady terrace and garden (gorgeous in good weather) and rather bizarre entrance (which you will love) hides one of the most relaxed and laid-back venues in Bucharest. Serves good bistro food, from tasty homemade pasta to steaks and salads (and a cheese selection worthy of anywhere), and there's an excellent value lunch-time set menu. At night, J'ai becomes a real hub of cultural activity, with live music and all sorts of events being held regularly. Extra points for the proper, long bar. Bucharest as it should be.
