Alma mater of Romanian restaurants, an integral part of the city's rich tapestry. This classy place - first built in 1892 - pulls in the cream of Bucharest society, served by charming, splendid waiters in smart dress. The food - particularly the traditional Romanian dishes - is superb, carefully crafted by resident chef Tudor Dobre, and in a city where standards rise only to fall so often, Casa Doina can be considered a paragon of consistency. The location is worthy of the food, on posh Soseaua Kiseleff in a quiet, leafy, withdrawn setting. The splendid terrace is an absolute joy when the weather allows.

Disappointed the quality price ratio is not the best (meaning high price poor quality) - to be exact I ordered their salmon and I was served a section of the salmon full of bones and fat - at that price (almost 20 euros) I expect at least a salmon fillet. I concur with Alex that I do not understand the plastic decoration inside though the summer garden is a winner. To summarize: avoid in the winter and in the summer just go for a beer.

The building is great, especially the terrace in summer. It is still a matter of mystery why they added all that plastic inside, and why they changed the menu, from traditional dishes to the international stuff they have now. Wanting to bring a group there, they replied with the famous line "we cannot serve polenta". Cannot like in "are not able", or like in "are not allowed"? Anyway, nice place, average menu, high prices (for what they serve).
