The biggest highlights each year are undoubtedly the lighting of the city's Christmas tree, the Poznań Christmas Markets and the Poznań Ice Festival. This year (2024-25) - after several years of renovations on Stary Rynek - the city looks to reset and resume some kind of steady order to their holiday celebrations. Although the city's Christmas market occupied Stary Rynek in the pre-pandemic, pre-renovation years, five years of comfortably hosting two separate markets on Plac Wolności and the Poznań International Trade Fair complex have convinced the city not to upset the routine. With the Rynek ready for service, however, the Poznań Ice Festival makes its triumphant return to ther centre of the Old Town, ensuring that the festive spirit will be soaring throughout the Old Town.
