Northern Cemetery

One of Europe’s largest cemeteries, and a relatively new addition to the city. Created in 1973 this vast graveyard contains over 135,000 graves, including those of poet Edward Stachura, German WWII casualties, and the bodies of those killed in one of Poland’s biggest air disasters – the 1980 LOT plane crash just outside the city limits.
