Skwer Kuracjyny (ENG: Healing Square) was developed in the 19th century as part of the Grand Spa project that helped to prosper the city of Sopot. The gardens leading to Sopot's pier play host to a number of events during the year from open-air markets and fairs to pole-vaulting in the summer to an outdoor ice rink in the winter when it also becomes the centre of New Year's Eve celebrations. Notable sights around the square, aside the domineering Grand Spa building, are the fountain, the entry to Sopot Pier and the Old Lighthouse.
While Sopot is best known as a summer holiday destination, the wintertime Ice Skating Rink in Skwer Kuracyjny is a Tri-city favourite!
