Despite apparently not being a part of the nationally known folk art chain Cepelia, you could argue that this knock-off is actually more authentic. That's no doubt due to the Nowa Huta location which has frozen it in time, retaining the original 1950s interior, complete with hand-painted ceramic dishware on the coffered ceiling - every piece unique (like snowflakes!). As such, the historic decor perhaps represents soviet-era Polish design better than the goods on the shelves represent traditional Polish folk design. For their part, the gifts on sale here are much cheaper than anywhere in the centre, with touristy kitsch at a minimum. A great place to pick up bargain sheepskin rugs, Bolesławiec pottery or lacework, if you're in Nowa Huta you should stop in anyway just to get a sense of what the entire district once looked like; this is literally the last shop on Plac Centralny to have largely retained its original design.
