Foča isn’t known as the ‘Adrenaline Capital of Bosnia & Herzegovina’ without good reason, and stunning spots like the Oteša river waterfall fully justify that tag. This isn’t a cookie-cutter waterfall that you can just rock up to and enjoy — oh no, you need to work for this beauty. Just 3.5km out from the sand pyramids, you’ll know you are there when you hear the sound. Stop the car and follow the loose track down towards the waterfall, and prepare for something truly beautiful. Now this isn’t for the out of shape, as the slope is pretty steep and slipping is almost guaranteed, plus the walk back up is all sorts of difficult, but the absolute majesty waiting at the bottom is worth every slip and every scrape.
