Church of the Nativity of the Theotokos

This three-aisled basilica is rather young (by European church standards), as its tale begins just two centuries ago. Made of stone and decorated with marble and wood on the interior, the construction of the church began in 1809, and finished in 1835, but even its short history was a turbulent one. Part of it was burnt down at the end of WWII, and the church was completely destroyed by the earthquake of 1963. It was finally completely reconstructed in 2008.
