Located right on the border with Kosovo in the Šar Mountains, Mount Ljuboten rises to a height of almost 2,500 metres and, thanks to its isolation and stereotypical mountain shape is visible from as far away as Skopje on a clear day. Hugely popular with mountain climbers from all over Europe, its lower slopes and pastures are also worth further investigation. With the aid of a local expert it’s possible to hike to the summit in around five hours, an adventure rewarded with some of the most spectacular views imaginable.
