Some 15km or so north of Ohrid, the popular tourist resort of Struga offers a unique and fascinating wealth of things to see and do when in the region. Steeped in historical significance and the birthplace of several well known historical figures including Vlado Malevski, the man who wrote the words to the Macedonian national anthem, Struga can be treated as both a short excursion from its more illustrious neighbour to the south and a destination in itself with plenty of good accommodation options to base yourself in.
