Local entertainer Henk Westbroek is the reason that many Dutch tourists visit the Mariaplaats, where his rock bar is located. However, this busy spot is full of fun haunts and the hospitable pub Van Velsen caught our attention. Everything is in order here. The music as well as the cocktails, the quasi trendy décor and the staff, who weren't overlooked when the Almighty handed out good looks, are all reasons to give it a shot. The terrace also offers hours of observation fun as this is one of the shortest walking routes from the centre of town to the train station. The long narrow bar is a popular meeting place for the city's Young & Beautiful crowd.
