Only 10 minutes away from Zuiderpark is Heempark located on a peninsula of the Zuiderplas recreation area created in 1960. The Heempark boasts a collection of native flora, which are vulnerable to all manner of things including people, so the park is only open from sunrise to sunset. A large lake is surrounded by paved walking and cycling paths and nearby is a large sandy beach where you can swim or just catch some rays. You can also rent sail boats and even do a little fishing.
