When travellers referred to the Lviv International Airport it was usually in the context of either a twisted joke or a terrifying tale. Time changes; and in April 2012 Lviv got the newly renovated Terminal. All in glass and steel in 14km west of the city centre, Danylo Halytskyi Lviv International became much better and pleasant. Getting around the city’s gateway will not take you any efforts, signs both in English and Ukrainian show the way and nothing here differs from most of fine European airports. Tourist information booth is located on the ground floor, with an information desk, customs, telephones, lost and found, car rental booths, first aid, 24 hour police services, waiting rooms, ATMs and a currency exchange. There are cafés in both check-in and departing zones and airline ticketing booths can also be found in the terminal.
Getting to town Taxis stands outside the main entrance of the aiport. The 70-80Hr fare to centre is relatively cheap for Ukraine, but the real bargain is by trolleybus 9 (1,25Hr) or marshrutka 48 (2Hr). It’s about 20 minutes by taxi and 40 minutes by trolleybus.
The new airport is lightyears away from the old Soviet box across the runway that used to serve as the airport. There is no longer any challenge to entering Ukraine via Lviv Airport. No pushing, no shoving, no narrow corridor for passport control, no guy with a wagon bringing the checked baggage which everyone throws themselves on so they can go through customs first. Without a checked bag I got through the airport in less than five minutes. And the wide open spaces.... Departure is made all the more sentimental by the "Veronika" Cafe at one end of the hall. There you can have a last drink and ponder the wide Ukrainian sky or buy some of those funky chocolates you decided against back in town.

I've been through Lviv 9 times in the last 2 years inadequate in terms of terminals. Always been treated very professionally by customs and immigration. I do not speak Ukrainian but have had no problems. Be polite and respectful they are doing the best with limited resources.
