Tolerance Center

Established inside a former Yiddish theatre, this fine museum features a permanent display of artefacts relating to many aspects of pre-war Litvak life and culture as well as a constantly changing series of temporary exhibitions. The preserved auditorium is now used for a wide range of events including symposiums, conferences, discussions and seminars. The Tolerance Center also plays host to a highly recommended selection of original paintings by the Vilnius-born Holocaust Survivor Samuel Bak (b.1933), which despite being called the Samuel Bak Museum is just another part of the exhibits on display inside a separate room.

The exhibit on Jews in Lithuania at the Center of Tolerance was fascinating - well researched, interestingly written and comprehensive. In addition to the exhibit, the artwork, artifacts and displays at the Center were very much worth a visit.
