An essential part of any visit to the city for those wishing to unlock its unique multicultural past, find two floors of exhibits inside a huge building displaying everything from prehistoric artefacts to sinister photographs of Klaipėda/Memel awash with swastikas soon after Hitler’s March 1939 occupation. A magnificent effort for an institution clearly struggling to find proper funding, give the place at least an hour if you can.
