North Bohemian Liberec is located in a natural basin between the Jizera Mountains and Ještěd-Kozákov Ridge that is well known for the unique hotel and television transmitter Ještěd which has become a symbol of the city and the entire Liberec Region.

In summer visitors could do hiking, Nordic Walking and cycling in the Jizera Mountains or on the slopes and tourist trails of the mountain Ještěd. In winter there are used almost 180 km of maintained routes in the Jizera Mountains by cross-country skiers. The Ještěd Sports Complex offers ski slopes and Snow Park for down-hill skiing and snowboarding.
Liberec is also popular for families with children thanks to the wide range of entertaining places (Dinopark presenting the Mesozoic era, Aquapark in the Centre Babylon, the Zoological Gardens famous for breeding of white tigers, iQlandia and iQpark for practising memory and logic).
Lovers of theatre, music and art could be satisfied by cultural programmes in a number of institutions as F. X. Šalda´s Theatre, the Naïve Theatre, the Cultural Centre, the Lidové sady Centre or the District Gallery, the North Bohemian Museum and the Regional Research Library.
