When it comes to sushi, three things are far more important than everything else combined: freshness, quality and freshness again. Sure, nice ambience, soft lightning, creative presentation, attractive servers, entertaining sushi chefs and some premium saké don't hurt matters, but if a restaurant doesn't have the freshest, highest quality fish in town, there's no reason to go there. This is why the world's most famous sushi joint is located in a Tokyo metro underpass and only seats 10 people. Why do we mention all of this? Because Oceanus, or at least its partner company Rebeiz Frères, first began importing fresh fish to Lebanon back in 1981 and continues to do so today, which means you're not likely to find fresher nigiri, maki or sashimi anywhere in Beirut. Located near Orthodox Hospital in Achrafieh, sushi only comprises part of their menu, and they've now got a second larger location on the seaside in the suburb of Maameltein.
