Satiekamies pie Laimas pulksteņa - let's meet at the Laima clock! The brown clock in front of the Freedom Monument has been a meeting place since it was erected in 1924, so people wouldn't have an excuse for being late to work. For decades it has advertised Laima chocolate, and many a sweet romance has started here. The famous clock was renovated at the end of 2017 and now also includes a digital countdown clock to Latvia's centenary on November 18, 2018. It also plays one of Latvian maestro Raimonds Pauls' sugary tunes every hour.

Nice landmark, especially when lit up at night.Laima chocolate shops have big cardboard models of the clock, but I was hoping they'd sell small, working models as souvenirs. They should really market the clock on their products.Though all the Laima chocolate that I did buy almost made me have to pay excess baggage fees!
