Liepāja’s chicest restaurant is causing a stir among Latvians and not just because local boy and New York Knick Kristaps Porziņģis is a silent partner, but also because some of Riga’s best chefs and mixologists have left the capital to work here. The interior is decorated with chandeliers made from copper piping, antique wooden floors and ceilings and a partially open kitchen where you can see just what the cooks are up to in this restored brick building. A long list of Mediterranean-style tapas awaits your perusal as well international cuisine with a Baltic twist from catfish fillets to venison burgers, which can also be enjoyed on a large summer terrace. Unfortunately, our pricey veal chop with the bone attached turned out to be a Wiener Schnitzel without the rib, but just like our feelings for Porziņģis, we’re crossing our fingers that M’O continues to improve and thrive with each new season.
