One of the most romantic destinations in Kraków, here you can enjoy delicious dishes with a Kurdish twist made from local premium products as well as stunning views from terraces of Zinar Castle.
If you've got a date, blindfold them, put them in a cab and bring them here! Extending out of a magnificent castle perched atop a jag of limestone poking out of Wolski Forest, are two levels of terraces offering outstanding panoramic views of the Vistula River and Tatra Mountains in the distance, from which you can eat, drink and be merry. Formerly a property of Jagiellonian University, and known as Przegorzały Castle, the historic castle residence is the latest investment of the ZR Hotel Group. Now known as Zinar Castle, the main building has been turned into a luxury hotel operating at a 5-star standard, while the adjacent Bastion tower will soon house a spa and massage parlour.
Despite the changes, the U Ziyada Restaurant - famous for its terrace views and with a 30-year tradition - remains intact and now boasts a clean, simple and modern design. Set over two levels, the main attraction remains the large, round lower terrace with phenomenal panoramic views. The sophisticated menu is based on premium local products - Polish beef, lamb, fresh fish and native vegetables - with a slight Kurdish influence. Open early for breakfast, the card also includes daily lunch specials, a kids menu, and the lower level now includes a cocktail bar where you can sip signature drinks in one of the cosy viewing arcades - an ideal sunset spot. The perfect dinner date destination or relaxing pit-stop after a trip to the Zoo or walk in the woods, even if you're not hungry it's worth dropping in for a drink and - most importantly - the view. To get there direct, grab a cab and expect to pay somewhere between 20-35zł, or take bus 134 to the Zoo and it's a lovely 15min walk through the woods on the yellow trail.
