Krakow

Pharmacy Museum

  ul. Floriańska 25 ,   Old Town          (+48) 12 421 92 79     09 Oct 2024

Located inside a wonderful 15th-century building, Kraków's brilliant Pharmacy Museum is laid out over five floors and includes all manner of exhibits from full-scale reproductions of ancient apothecary shops to some beastly snakes in jars. While the top floor holds a really good display of traditional herbal medicines, the basement is set-up to look like an alchemy workshop, complete with a gator hanging from the ceiling. Also of note is an exhibit dedicated to the extraordinary and brave Pole, Tadeusz Pankiewicz, who operated a pharmacy in the Kraków Ghetto during WWII. A property of Jagiellonian University, overall this surprising museum is a lot more interesting than it sounds.

Average visiting time: 90mins.
