Vytautas the Great (1350-1430), Grand Duke of Lithuania, was the leader at the vanguard of the 1410 Battle of Grunwald (Lithuanian, Žalgiris. German, Tannenberg), one of the greatest battles in Medieval Europe. This copy of an interwar original was unveiled on August 23 and continues to court a modicum of controversy due to the pecking order of the somewhat bizarrely placed soldiers underneath him.
