The Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra (JPO) presents its Valentine's Gala concert on Fri, Feb 14, 2025, at the Linder Auditorium, and this year promises something different. Expect an evening featuring a line-up of accomplished artists from various musical backgrounds, compèred by distinguished broadcaster Masego Rahlaga, co-anchor of The South African Morning on eNCA and host of Behind The Name. 

Under the baton of the celebrated Eddie Clayton, the JPO’s Valentine’s Gala concert promises a spellbinding evening of music and romance. Experience the soaring vocals of Zita Pretorius, an artist known for her versatility across opera, classical, and contemporary music. She'll take centre stage alongside the soulful Monde Msutwana, whose rich, emotive voice brings passion and nostalgia to every note. Adding a touch of brilliance is acclaimed trumpet virtuoso Adam Howard, known for his work with William Kentridge’s Refuse The Hour, his performance at the 2010 FIFA World Cup, and his leadership of the Johannesburg Big Band.

The programme is a heart-stirring journey through love-infused classics, from Phantom of the Opera to Marvin Gaye’s Let’s Get It On, and Miriam Makeba’s Ntyilo Ntyilo, all brought to life by the lush sounds of a full symphony orchestra, making it a wonderful way to celebrate love – whether with a partner, friends, or family.
