Janina Monkutė-Marks (1923-2010) was born in the Lithuanian town of Radviliškis and gew up in and around Kėdainiai. In 1944 she moved to Germany before heading off to Chicago in 1950 where she settled and took up the life of a professional artist. This combined museum and gallery contains the bulk of her work and also organises temporary exhibitions of contemporary Lithuanian and international art.
