Perched high in the Dublin Mountains (our mountains aren’t very high, though), Johnny Fox's claims to be the “highest pub in Ireland”. Its interior is very traditional, resembling a country pub more than an urban one. Though locals like it, Fox’s is more popular with tourists, mainly because it offers a great line in traditional Irish dancing and music. Indeed, they even do a dinner and show package (less tacky than it sounds) with a seafood meal and some fine trad dancing. The food is good, actually... we recommend the jambalaya. Oh, and call ahead if you’re going for the music - it’s on a few nights a week, but it’s a long way out of the city, so best to be sure.
