Facing the Bank of Ireland and a tome's throw from Trinity College, this beautifully restored Victorian building is instantly recognisable as a former bank - complete with vaults and an old safe - and all the prettier for it. One of the nicest interiors of any Dublin bar, the Bank boasts a mosaic tiled floor, stained glass ceiling, stunning chandelier - and some nice snugs if you want to be a little detached from the crowd. There's even a rare replica Book of Kells on display at the entrance - a reminder of the real thing's proximity. The clientele vary from yuppies to students to (you’ve guessed it) bankers. Nice staff, mellow crowd and pretty good service make this a classy option. You might have trouble getting a seat if you’re not there early enough, but that’s usually a good sign.
