Aillwee Caves

In the heart of The Burren in Co Clare, high on a mountainside, you'll find this fascinating cave where you can get guided tours through beautiful caverns, under bizarre stalagmite and stalactite formations and alongside an impressive waterfall that will all take the breath away. The caves have had many visitors over the years, but the oldest was probably the now-extinct brown bears of Ireland, whose bones are still on display. After the tour you can talk about the wonders you saw over some delicious local food or stroll around the Burren area, but we recommend also paying a visit to the Birds of Prey Centre.
