If you’re planning to make the most of your stay in Hamburg, you can’t go without the Hamburg CARD. With free use of public transport, reduced admission to museums and many other attractions, it will save money while you enjoy all that Hamburg has to offer to the full.
The Hamburg CARD includes unlimited travel on HVV public transportation on buses, trains and harbour ferries in the Greater Hamburg Area, up to 50% discount on admission to over 130 museums and attractions, 20% discount on food in dozens of restaurants and up to 28% off last-minute tickets at 16 theatres. A day ticket (one adult plus up to three children age 6-14) costs €10.50, and is valid on the day indicated and from 18.00 of the previous day (with the exception of tickets purchased at HVV tickets machines and on buses). Two days cost €19,90, three days €26.50, four days €34,90 and five days €42.50; these are valid on the day of first use plus the following 2 or 4 days. The excellent-value group ticket is valid 1-5 days for up to 5 persons of any age and costs €18.50 for one day.
There's also a Hamburg CARD plus Region available for one or three days, allowing for free HVV second class travel in zones ABCDE, including the airport and Lüneburg; a single day ticket is €21,90, a group ticket €35,90.
The Hamburg CARD is available at all Hamburg Tourist Information offices (airport, central station and harbour), in various hotels and hostels, at the Hamburg Transit Authority (HVV) Customer Offices, ticket machines, in buses (though not the five-day ticket) and through travel agents.
