One of the oldest, largest and most popular wineries and wedding venues not only on Mount Tamborine but anywhere in the Gold Coast's Hinterland, the Cedar Creek Estate is an easy place for day trippers to spend an entire day eating, drinking, ambling around the beautiful grounds or visiting the famed glow worm tours. The best place to start is with lunch outside under the gazebo with views over the duck-filled lake. The modern cuisine is both delectable and served in huge portions by a young, friendly staff, and if you're looking for something lighter, the Devonshire Tea is a recommendable option (for non-Commonwealth readers this consists of tea and scones with jam). After the meal it's time to move on to the wine tasting in the Heritage Bar, a very welcoming, laid back space, where you don't need to know anything about wine, other than how to drink it. The winery produces a wide variety of whites, reds and dessert wines to sample, including the crowd-pleasing Revelation Red, a full-flavoured cuvée made from estate-grown Chambourcin and Merlot that's best served chilled, as well as large selection of fortified wines which dangerously drinkable. Everything is available for purchase at very reasonable prices, which are lowered even further if you become a member. Bookings are required for larger groups and also probably a good idea for anyone visiting at the weekends.
