This 13th century monastery, one of the oldest preserved buildings in Estonia dating to 1246, offers a glimpse into the lives of medieval monks. The east wing of the once three chambers remains where you can explore many rooms including a monk's dormitory and prior's living quarters. One of the curiosities is the downstairs room that houses the 'energy pillar' purportedly the source of a mysterious power.

To my dismay I am reading that the Claustrum is not open before May 15th. I will be in Tallinn before that date, and as I am searching for Medieval art through all of Europe this is very disappointing.I am an indivudual cultural traveler and not in a group. Is it possible to make an appointment for at least a short visit?Looking forward to your information and regards, Annemarie Henning
