The oldest observatory in Europe that is still functioning, is The Round Tower in Copenhagen. The building dates from 17th century and was built by Christian IV. It is still used by all enthusiastic amateur astronomers and those who would like to feel as one. The building is 39 meters high, yet the way to the top is 209 meters.
