The River Danube is the second longest river in Europe and flows into the Black Sea where it forms one of the most beautiful deltas in Europe and indeed, the world. One of, if not the most beautiful place in Romania, the landscapes here are indescribable.

Near the town of Tulcea, the Danube splits into three branches, from north to south Chilia, Sulina and Sfantul Gheorghe. Each branch is unique and has different attractions, however, any of these offer the opportunity to explore stunning fauna and flora.

This area offers optimal living conditions for different types of animals and plants due to the diversity of the land and water surfaces such as rivers, channels, marshes, lakes and islands. Here you can find various protected or even unique species in the world.

In this place you can see many types of plants, trees, fish, aquatic birds, insects, molluscs, reptiles, amphibians and mammals. Among the most common ones we can list oaks, reeds, pelicans and cormorants.

People who want to visit this place should know that this is a Nature Reserve, and only certain protected areas can be visited. Although there are some restrictions, there are many routes that can be visited, both on land and on water.
