Cultural Highlights of the Šibenik Summer ·

Summer is perfect time to travel, to visit new places and gain new experiences. Travelling also a great way to learn about local art.

Music

And the summer starts with the two-time Grammy award winner for “Best Jazz Vocal Album", Gregory Porter, returning to St. Michael's Fortress (July 22) in Šibenik for another mesmerising concert. This multi-talented American artist has won the world over with his take on contemporary jazz, blues, soul and gospel, and we are looking forward to hosting him once more — he won't disappoint.
Some big names in the world of music, such as Devendra Banhart (July 28), Mariza (Aug 1), Kruder & Dorfmeister (Aug 3), Tommy Emmanuel (Aug 8), Trentemoller (Aug 14), Editors (Aug 26) and other well-renowned bands from Croatia and the wider region, including Vlatko Stefanovski I Miroslav Tadić (July 16), Božo Vrećo (July 17), Pips, Chips & Videoclips + Letu Štuke (Aug 8), Baby Lasagne (Aug 16), Silente (Aug 17), 4 Tenora (Aug 30),  to name just a few, will perform in this unique setting. Seize the opportunity to enjoy a number of fantastic concerts at St Michael’s Fortress this summer!
SHIP Festival takes place between September 12 and 14 and will see a host of musical marvels take to the stage. Conferences dominate the day, but the evenings are given over to melody and harmony, with concerts by domestic and international musicians. Given that the number of seats is limited, make sure you check their website HERE..

Electronic music fans will surely choose to stop by Martinska Beach, located on a peninsula opposite the Old Town, with a circular ferry connection (running between July 6 and August 17). The opening party will be directed by the collective U/offu and guest NVST, a DJ and producer based in Switzerland, one of the rising stars of the international electronic club scene. Dance to the beat of the electronic music at Regius Festival (July 12-13), Sea Sound Festival (July 18 – 21), Membrain Festival (Aug 1-4) and Blast Fest (Aug 9-11), where music plays for 48 hours without a break.

Preach the Rič (Aug 16 - 17) hip-hop festival with announced headliners Arrested Development, Valid & DJ Head and Bad Copy, and 17 other artists! They are: ONI, 40Industry, One II Many, Phat Phillie, DJ Bero Zmaj, DJ Noki Nole, DJ Odie, Re:tro Flava, Antebiotik, Brat & Mali Japonac, Mleeksah, Bars, Grooveplayaz, Pećo, Bolest, D- Boe te Nvnzen. Also the trap and hip-hop spectacle will take place on July 20 at the Šubićevac stadium in Šibenik.

Punk music lovers will roam the Kanal Festival on Martinska Beach from July 25-27, while Project Vojarna Open Air takes place at the Šibenik army barracks — July 20 will definitely intrigue.

Vodice Jazz & Blues Festival from July 17-19 in the nearby town of Vodice is another music lovers‘ must this summer. Across from Šibenik on the Zlarin island from July 18 to 21, the Zlarin Street Festival will be held with performances, workshops, and performances.
On Aug 14, you can also enjoy the concert of the Croatian band Elemental at Martinska Beach.

Tisno Summer Beats

Tisno is an enchantingly wonderful location that is one of the fastest growing and most sought after festival destinations in Croatia. Kicking off the season in style is the Hospitality on the Beach Festival, set to host beloved drum and bass DJs like DJ Hype, Winslow, Dillinja, Eva Lazarus, Hoax, and Elipsa from July 2 to 9.
From Jul 10th to 16th prepare your ears for seven days of love and joy at the Love International Festival with the sounds of artists like Alex Kassian, Danielle, Job Jobse, and Piers Harrison. Outlook Origins returns to its roots at Tisno from July 25 to 29, bringing you the hottest lineup featuring artists like Eva Lazarus, Notion, Madam X, DJ Storm, Introspekt, and Youngsta, with more to be unveiled! This is the ultimate celebration of dubstep, dub & reggae, drum & bass, jungle, and grime under the summer sun! Defected Croatia, famous by bringing together a stellar lineup of main-stage house legends, disco icons, and underground heroes is ready for 2024 Aug 1 to 4 as Phase 1 of the lineup drops, featuring an electrifying roster including The Shapeshifters, Horse Meat Disco, Mousse T, Crazy P Soundsystem, Monki, Masters at Work, Fat Tony, Dimitri from Paris, and many more! Dekmantel Selectors from Aug 22 to 26 in a more intimate atmosphere will dance yours feet off to artists like Avalon Emerson, Kampire, SHERELLE, Yu Su and Freddy K. Dimensions festival from Aug 29 to Sep 2 with world class names from house to techno such as Admo, Garret David, Jorg Kuning, and Phone Trexx will round the festival season in Tisno.
 

Film

Barone Fortress will once again host the˝Moving Night˝ film event. The program has been created in cooperation with various festivals in Croatia which promote the independent & art films industry. The film selection has been made from the film titles shown recently at domestic and prestigious foreign film festivals.
Don’t miss out on the International Festival of Animated Film and Comics Supertoon that will take place in the Old Town of Šibenik from July 22 - 26. Locations and the program can be viewed here

Dance

Can you picture top dance performances performed in medieval fortresses, Venetian squares, and a 150-year-old National Theatre? Then head to Šibenik with collaborative dance companies and productions putting on plays, dramas, workshops, choreographies, ballets, and more. Šibenik has it all with shows such as ‘Pupo’ By Comoco Dance Company, Todo Bajo Control, Come Neve, and In Black, just to name a few. Children's Festival

Taking place over two weeks at the end of June and the beginning of July, the 64th annual International Children’s Festival June 22 – July 6 will turn Šibenik into a thrilling playground of excitement and energy. More than 130 programs are scheduled to take place, incorporating everything from theatre to literature via film, workshops, sports, and more. Intercultural dialogue is the focus of this year’s event, and tickets for shows can be purchased in advance from the official website.

Local Art Fairs

As part of the celebration of Šibenik’s heritage, there will be Klapa singing on Thursday evenings at Mala Loža throughout the summer July 11 – Sep 28. Another way to embrace the magic of local culture is by spending a morning at the city’s Green Market, open from July 1 until October 1, where a wide variety of domestic products will be available.
