St Anthony’s Channel is the only sea entrance to the city of Šibenik and forms part of the protected significant landscape Channel–Port, as well as the Natura 2000 ecological network of the Krka estuary. The 4.4-kilometre seaside promenade passes through Mediterranean vegetation and offers spectacular panoramic views of the Šibenik archipelago, St Nicholas’ Fortress, and the historic city skyline. Along the route, visitors can explore historic military structures, including a former naval tunnel locally known as “Hitler’s Eyes”, the small cave church dedicated to St Anthony hidden within the rocks along the channel, and the remains of historic fortifications once connected to the defence of Šibenik. At Minerska Bay, visitors can also discover the modern St Anthony’s Channel Visitor Centre, featuring the multimedia exhibition Where the River Meets the Sea, interactive displays, and virtual reality experiences presenting the rich natural and cultural heritage of the Krka estuary and the protected areas of the Šibenik-Knin County. The promenade is ideal for walking, jogging, cycling, and organised interpretive tours, combining nature, heritage, and stunning coastal scenery.
