Omiš - Croatia's Adventure Capital

13 May 2024

Originating in the Dinara mountain range, at the border of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, the River Cetina winds a tortuous course through the countryside until it finally empties into the Adriatic. The mouth of the river passes through an impressive gorge near the small Dalmatian town of Omiš, a quiet and picturesque town that is the centre of what has become known as “the Omiš Riviera”. The mountainous areas around the town make for great hiking spots, the water is an inviting crystalline blue. We suggest you experience one of these activities.

Cycling

The old saying “two feet good, two wheels better” is particularly pertinent in and around Omiš. Energetic cyclists will find plenty to explore, from the dramatic canyon of the Cetina River to the cultural and historical heritage of Poljice and beyond. Those looking for something slightly more extreme should make a beeline for the thrilling mountain bike trails surrounding Omiš.

Zipline

Is there anything more thrilling than ziplining above a breathtaking canyon? The Omiš Zipline is not for the faint-hearted, as it propels daring adventurers down 2 km-long wires, some of which are a staggering 100 metres high above the waters. Are you ready to take on this heart-pounding adventure?

Theme Trails

Velika and Mala Gubavica Waterfalls

Croatia is home to many breathtaking waterfalls, and two of the most enchanting ones are nestled in and around the village of Zadvarje, within the Cetina River Canyon. The aptly named Velika (Great) and Mala (Small) Gubavica Waterfalls, cascading 49m and 7m respectively, offer a sight that is both unique and stunning. Have you ever dreamt of swimming under a waterfall? Now is your chance to experience this natural wonder up close.

There are options for all skill levels and desires, from rip-roaring wild river runs for experienced rafters to more serene stretches for families.
