The National Theater and Opera of Cluj-Napoca was built between 1904 and 1906. The theatre bears the name of Lucian Blaga, a well-known Romanian philosopher, poet, playwright and novelist, and it is here the whole extent of his stage work premiered. Designed by the renowned firm of Austrian architects Fellner and Helmer, the National Theatre of Cluj-Napoca became one of the main Romanian cultural promoters in Transylvania.
